The Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) is a beginner-level certification from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and Linux Foundation that validates foundational knowledge of cloud-native concepts, containerization, and Kubernetes. Unlike more advanced certifications like the CKA, the KCNA is an ideal entry point for engineers, developers, and operators new to cloud-native technologies.

The KCNA is structured as a multiple-choice exam with 60 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. It covers five domains: cloud-native foundations (41%), container orchestration (22%), cloud-native architecture (16%), observability (12%), and cloud-native application development and deployment (9%). The exam validates your understanding of container fundamentals, Kubernetes architecture, service meshes, security practices, and the principles behind cloud-native design.

Unlike hands-on certifications like the CKA, the KCNA is knowledge-based and can be prepared for through studying documentation, watching tutorials, and working through practice questions. It's a great stepping stone for anyone learning Kubernetes or considering a career in cloud-native infrastructure. The lower barrier to entry and beginner-friendly content make it an excellent first certification for demonstrating cloud-native competency.

Our KCNA practice sets contain questions covering every official exam domain with detailed explanations. Each question includes comprehensive reasoning so you understand the concepts, not just the answers. Questions are free to start, and your scores are tracked so you can measure progress and focus your revision on weaker areas.
